GENERAL SUMMARY Reporting to the Manager, Sr. Manager or Director of Public Relations, this position is responsible for designing and a focused Global Pubic Relations program within the context of the overall EMC Public Relations program. The Public Relations Consultant sets PR strategies and plans, and conducts and organizes public relations activities that are complex and require a high level of strategic contribution. The PR Consultant has broad expertise and unique knowledge and uses these skills to manage the development, implementation and coordination of internal and external public relations strategies, with the goal of establishing and maintaining a favorable image of the company with investors, customer, prospects, employees and the public. The PR Consultant interacts with and influences marketing, sales, Sr. Executives and HR in order to deliver corporate messages to both internal and external constituencies PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Leads PR planning process and execution for area of responsibility. Serves as a strategic PR advisor to EMC senior management Manages PR agency resources to support program, sets measurable goals and evaluates results against stated objectives. Trains stable of highly effective external spokespersons Writes and edits press releases, product announcements and background information. Conducts press calls, arranges and staffs media interviews and creates proactive editorial pitches Serves as key contact for select media outlets. Interacts with senior company management, senior communications management, international subsidiaries, external resources such as agencies and consultants, partner companies, and representatives of the news media, financial community, industry analysts and other potential external influencers. Provides analysis for PR program results and makes recommendation for improvement/change. ? Manages major launches, writes and edits press releases, spokesperson Q&As, background information, etc. Leverages wide range of internal EMC resources to contribute to the program''s success including EMC PR counterparts, Investor Relations, Analyst Relations, Marketing, Product Management, Engineering, Finance, Operations, etc. Represents EMC in a positive and effective manner, exhibiting behavior consistent with EMC''s values SKILLS Ability to work effectively with senior management.
